Cathedral Choir
At STOSC, we have a 50-member strong choir including the men, women and children. For the Holy Qurbana on Sundays, there is usually a 6 to 8-member choir that leads the congregation with melodious recitation of songs and responses, enhancing the divine experience of orthodox worship. The senior choir leads the Malayalam service, and the junior choir leads the English service alternate weeks.
Other than the regular service on Sundays, the choir also participates in the various church events like the St Thomas Day Convention in July and the Youth Nite.
Apart from active participation at the church services, the choir helps to improve the church’s outreach to the community by participating in various social events like
- Ecumenical Christmas Choir: This is usually organised around the first week of December. The CSI, Mar Thoma, and the Orthodox churches participate in this event which is hosted by one of the 3 churches. During this event and its preparations, St Thomas Choir can be seen at its full strength.
- National Day Thanksgiving Service: This is usually organised in the second or third week of August after National Day at the St. Andrew’s Cathedral in City Hall by National Council of Churches in Singapore (NCCS). The church is represented by a 10 to 15-member choir at the event.
