Maundy Thursday – PESAHA (Feast of Passover).
– Pesach (Passing Over), “Protect”, “Spare us from Slavery”. The Blood of Lamb marked on their lintels and door sides, to protect all Israelites from the Angel of Death.

– Now this day is the same Blood and Body of our Lord Jesus Christ which protects us from the slavery of SIN, and is often known to us as The Last Supper (Passover Meal).

Father Theophylactius of Ochrid
– According to the Mosaic rite, the Jews used to eat the Passover (Exodus 12: 11) , as it reminds them of the departure from the slavery that their forefathers lived in Egypt.
– The Last Supper took place on the day of the Passover, and that our Lord Jesus Christ offered His Body and Blood after the symbolic slaughter of the Lamb.
– The Master took the cup and gave thanks and said: “ Take this and divide it among yourselves ” , and after supper, about which he said: _“ This cup is the new covenant in my blood that is shed for you ”.
– The first saying refers to the Old Testament, and the second introduces us to the mystery of the New Testament.
– The sacrament of the Eucharist” that the “memorial” here in the Greek ανάμνηση “anamensis” does not mean merely the remembrance of something that we look forward to that is absent from us.
– The anamensis here means remembering the crucified Christ, risen from the dead, or remembering His sacrifice, not as a past event, but as presenting a true, present and active sacrifice, that is, an effective memory.

St. John Chrysostom  believes that
– God opens the doors of hope to everyone, but He does not oblige anyone to repent against His will
– I wish we would be like the eleven apostles, so that we would know our weakness, and not rely on ourselves, but on the grace of God that protects us from falling
